Let workers be more involved in company decision-making (shifts, etc.) rather than always having management of company administration making those decisions
Work to improve “in-company” communication (people want to hear about things happening in the business at work rather than downtown)
Employers could offer orientation and mentoring services for new workers to help new workers understand the “culture” of the company, and begin to “fit in” and make friends immediately. This needs to be an entire company attitude and practice, not just a management philosophy.
Management in businesses could conduct “follow-up/follow-along” with new employees to check how they are getting along on their new job
Businesses and communities could work to promote “entire communities” rather than just individual businesses
Increase the opportunities for networking and communication between agencies involved in workforce development and preparation (regularly scheduled face-to-face)
Get workforce development agencies, school and businesses to commit to follow-though on job exploration for youth (lots of job exposure, hands-on, and focused)
